Mushroom Couloir

Skied a couloir on the north face of mushroom peak today. Travelled predominantly north and north west aspects between 1500m and 2400m where air temperature remained below 0 all day. Travel at all elevations was fast on old melt freeze crusts which were beginning to break down on the return journey but only on steep solar slopes in shallow snowpack areas. Fantastic conditions in the couloir itself with dry boot top powder top to bottom and great bootpacking conditions. Travel in the valley bottom is likely to become significantly more challenging in the next couple of weeks with river crossings opening up and snow coverage shrinking, but for now you should use what snow remains to access sheltered alpine north faces, they're holding great snow.
