Heavier snowfall than forecast with moderate NE winds creating soft slabs over lower density facetted grains where the trees were open enough. Foot penetration very deep in 20 HST over facetted soft snow to a maximum of 80cm; ski pen from 20 -45 cm as altitude gained. Air temp -8C. Would suspect that at treeline and alpine natural avalanches were possible and human-triggered likely as a result. With clearing skies and dropping temps tomorrow caution is warranted.
