Spent the past few days in Ningunsaw Pass- generally awesome skiing on North aspects, south aspects wind and sun affected, no signs of recent slab avalanches, some point release in Rocky/ typical south facing steep areas (several days of sun), tons of glide cracks. We dug 6 quick test pits over the time we were there (3 snow nerds in the group/ new area for all of us) snow pack in general looked like: 30cm of newish snow, with a crust below, this layer reactive in tests at CTM level, but did not produce any results on small ski cut slopes, 65-70 down, another MF crust, non reactive in tests. Another crust at 100-120cm, with SH formation just above crust, not reactive in compression tests but did with shovel shear- we skiied generally in the snow bank mountain area/ red flat creek, as well as on the east side of the highway.
