A few small fresh windslabs, wide propogation Fresh low density snow from Thursday night (5cm) being redistributed by wind, but mainly sublimating in PM. Test profiles of the windslab from early in thr week on a NW aspect on whakapapa glacier gave 3x CTE (2x PC, 1xRP) down 20 on stellars (DFs) but felt capped by a 3cm freezing rain crust near surface and jumping on loaded test rolls gave no result. Still avoided large slopws loaded from tuesdays precip. Cracking from skis observed in 5-10cm thick fresh windslab from friday morning, immediate lee features. Upon reaching crater, a few fresh sz 1 windslabs visible on S and SE aspects from the morning. Skiied E and SE asp to 30 degrees, and (unloaded) N to 45 degrees. Fine day, then riming, cloud late PM, and rain through evening at whakapapa. Expect more snow than forecast for saturday AM and consequentially, potentially higher hazard.
