Quick report
Rode from Squaw Creek back to Murphy Creek. 5" of new snow at 8000' overnight. Intermittent cloud cover with breaks of sunlight. No recent avalanche activity along Prater or Stewart East faces. Found areas with preserved low density powder 20" deep on shaded aspects. Solar aspects have a recent melt freeze crust 10cm down with quickly condensed new snow. No probagation during stability tests. Overall stable conditions. New snow during the storm tomorrow will fall on a variety of surface conditions. Expect storm slabs to be reactive, especially during periods of rapid loading.
Snowpack
Dug around to check the peristent slab problem. No propagation in extended column tests. This has been a trend we've seen across the Salt River Range recently (Willow Creek). Riding just a short distance to the Wyoming Range and you'll find a whole different story (Little Greys River), with much more reactive buried weak layers, specifically the Feb 18th layer.
