Great day of skiing powder up Bell Mountain! The snowpack looked quite stable at tree line elevations and below with no reactions to our snowpack test. We found 120cm of total snow at 1800m and no layers of interest beyond a crust near the base of the snow (see photo of our snowpit.) That crust was well bonded to the snow around it. There was a thin sun crust on the surface on steep south facing slopes. Above the treeline (alpine zone) it was wind affected and we suspected that wind slab avalanches could be triggered on specific terrain features.
