Quick Observation
Today was a game of hide and seek from the wind. We found some prized pockets of light fluffy pow in the trees on North and north east aspects. It was warmer than anticipated at -3 in the afternoon. We primarily rode creek draws, meadows, cut blocks and the valley bottom, all mostly heavily treed to open treed terrain. We did not see any new or recent avalanche activity in the area. We did notice the wind activity had begun to affect the opens and meadows, but the snow was still relatively fluffy in most areas. We observed blowing snow up the Alpine on neighbouring slopes and noted on a steep north east facing meadow that the windslab was present but not reactive about 50cm down, total snow was 220cm @ 1300m and the Feb crust was down about 85cm. All in all, great day riding.
