Quick Observation
Did a cheeky scramble to the summit up the west side and down the Lomas lake trail. Snow would have been pretty poor to skin on I think as it was pretty dense with a decent crust on the surface. Lots of exposed rock with icy layers. Still a good elevation for more mellow snow objectives with snowshoes. Crampons definitely helped with the scramble but only really because they were catching on the rock, there wasn't deep enough snow/ice for them on the steeper sections.
Snowpack
Snow started ~1100m and got consistently deeper as we approached summit at ~1400m Midday snow had a good crust for crampons on the west aspect however by afternoon/evening was post holing consistently through the crust down at least 35cm deep. Crust was about 2-3cm thick. Still a bit rocky at this elevation I think to do steeper snow activities but snowshoes can definitely be used.
