Quick Observation

We skinned up Fraser chutes area looking for sheltered skiing with a storm approaching from the south. The skiing was good, and fast where we found boot top powder in sheltered areas. It was snowing lightly, vis was not great, and it warmed up in the afternoon to near zero back at the highway. We dug around and did a profile at the tree line (see snowpack tab here plus AvCanYukon instagram and facebook for a video).

Snowpack

In the top 50-70cm of snowpack we found softer snow from the past couple storms, there is over a meter of snow in the middle is harder and well-settled, and at the very bottom there is loose sugary snow. After our tests, we felt good about skiing sheltered slopes in the Fraser chutes.
