Quick Observation
Went for a walk and enjoyed the good vis today. Wide spread wind effect on all aspects and elevations. Wind slab varied in thickness and stiffness and is highly variable. Ski pen was 10-15cm in sheltered trees below the lake and non existent above 1100m Saw 3 sz1-1.5 avalanches on a SE steep roll below the lake, skied over some debris on a NE asp below the Cahuna at the lake, and saw more debris on an E asp at 1400m that looked like a cornice fall. All 3 debris piles had moderate wind erosion and deposition and seemed to be more than 48 hours old. No signs of instability besides isolated pockets of wind slab with shooting cracks. Some surface hoar and surface faceting developing in sheltered pockets at TL.
