Quick Observation
New snow is slowly adding up, with 5-10cm now sitting on the crust that formed from last weeks rain. The new snow is has been blown around by the wind and we saw a few shooting cracks on small steep slopes on our little ski tour in the Fraser area today. We timidly tried some ski turns in low angle terrain and were surprised that the crust was generally supportive.
Avalanche Information
We saw two older large avalanches that must have occurred late last week. These avalanches began as wind slabs in the alpine, but entrained moist snow and the frozen deposit looks more like wet loose debris. We weren't cnocerned about wet loose today, but we are still watching out for wind slab avalanches in the alpine on steep, wind-loaded slopes.
