We dug 20 or so hand pits on a NW to NE slopes up to 2400 m. We got medium and medium-easy results on two weak layers at/above the late Jan crust, each under about 15-40 cm of snow, which seemed to be very widespread (Matier Glacier near Spetch and Slalok also near upper Joffre Lake). In higher wind loaded terrain we found three weak layers, with the lowest 90 cm deep. The standard route up Matier however was wind scoured and we could not find these layers
