Quick Observation

We wanted to investigate the PWL in the upper snowpack. The 2nd pic is a screenshot from a video right when the PS released.

Weather

Huge contrast in temp between sunny aspects and shady ones. There was a thin surface crust present from W through S to E aspects, but not on N aspects 1300m and higher.

Snowpack

215cm HS, 1370m elevation, SE aspect, and dug the pit on a small 40° feature. Results: CTV SP @156cm on PWL consisting of facets on top of knife-density crust ECTP 13 @156cm on the same layer The PS in the ECT popped and released pretty fast. This may have been an isolated instability, but it showed that the layer hasn’t fully healed yet in certain areas.
