Quick Observation

Quick rip up Mongolia, dug two hasty pits to observe weak layer. Dug both around 1850m, on sheltered NW and S aspects. NW was HS 155cm , S had an HS of 120cm. The Nov. weak layer was obvious in both location, did not find a bordering crust layer on the South pit location. The snowpack above the layer appears nicely consolidated. Observed sluff evidence from steep and rocky terrain off the head walls. Kept the skiing mellow and avoided any potential triggering features.
