Quick report

Warm temperatures crept their way up into the high country today with a high of 37°F recorded at the Old Ski Bowl weather station. This was apparent on all but the most shaded snow surfaces, as they were damp and firming. Sled ski penetration is 6 inches, while boot penetration off the machine is about one to two feet. I observed low avalanche danger while travelling below and near treeline today, with the only sign of instability being roller balls on solar aspects. There was no evidence of recent avalanches, cracking, or collapsing. I did not travel above treeline where there may be drier, lighter snow lingering. The Siskiyou County blower is back up and running. The hardworking operators are making strong headway clearing the Everitt Memorial Highway.
