    More snow and wind today, snowfall totals are expected to be light. Soft and hard slab conditions have formed at upper elevations. It is close to reaching threshold in some areas. Snow has fallen on to bare rock/tussock.

  • We are uncertain due to a limited number of field observations.
  • We are uncertain about forecast precipitation amounts.

Recent Avalanche Activity

Some control work using explosives yielding minimal results yesterday.

Current Snowpack Conditions

Some consolidation of the pack yesterday with a higher freezing level than forecast. More snow falling overnight and during today. Wind-slab conditions in start zones. Coverage is thin, we are seeing a good base develop. Many hidden hazards are lurking just below a thin coverage.

Mountain Weather

Cloudy with snow showers for much of the day. Winds from the SE rising to gale strength during the morning. The freezing level lowering to 900 m.
