Make sure your team has the necessary skills, experience, and judgment before embarking on a winter climb. Expert crampon and ice axe technique is mandatory. Carry the proper climbing and rescue equipment, including navigational tools. Know how to use your equipment. Things can get serious real fast on Mt. Shasta, despite being 15 minutes off the interstate. Be prepared.
