In sintesi

Avalanche danger is going to be on the rise today. The increase in avalanche hazard will come whenever the storm decides to grace us with its presence. Before that happens, the main hazards are going to be wind-loaded aspects, particularly at or above treeline. East and southeast aspects in particular carry the potential for large slabs.

There are definitely wind-loaded slopes out there right now, particularly on east and southeast facing slopes. Once the storm rolls in this afternoon, high winds will accompany it and we should see wind-loading on the entire northern half of the compass.

Avalanche Discussion

Winter conditions are back in the backcountry (or never really left) with tons (30 feet worth) of snow near treeline in some places. An active weather system will come for a visit this afternoon and drop another foot+ of snow on the upper mountain. Exercise caution when approaching any slopes with possible wind-loading, particularly later this afternoon and tomorrow morning. Small, low-consequence test slopes are your friend.

The MSAC end of season Community and Members Appreciation Party is happening on April 15th, from 4-7 pm at Spring Hill Nursery and Gardens. Come join all your local snow buddies, drink a cold one, and groove to some tunes. We'll be there...rain or shine!

If you find anything interesting, we'd love to hear about it. Drop us an observation. Any information is helpful and appreciated.
