In sintesi

Snow is in the forecast. Overall avalanche danger remains low, but pay attention to how much snow falls and where it blows. You might be able to kick off small winds slabs or sloughs in isolated areas late in the day. Prepare for low temperatures and dangerous wind chills in the coming days.

Avalanche Discussion

We have a cold storm in store today that will likely bring snow in the late afternoon and evening. It is unlikely to bring the amount of snow that would create a widepsread concern for avalanches. Nonethelesss, some isolated areas could see small wind slabs form, and a few inches of cold snow on top of a steep, firm slope could slough under a skier.

It's been so long since we've received snow that we may have become complacent. Today, you should start paying attention again if venturing onto steep slopes with new snow.

Climbers beware: Strong winds and dangerous wind chill temperatures on the upper mountain are certain.
