In sintesi

Generally safe avalanche conditions exist across the forecast area. That being said, isolated warming instability in the form of roller balls, pinwheels, and small wet loose avalanches may be possible during peak daytime temperatures. To mitigate this hazard, during the hottest part of the day, evaluate solar slopes before entering. Expect firm, and variable surfaces above 10,000 feet.

    Today, as temperatures bump a few degrees warmer, wet loose avalanches will be possible on W-SW-S-SE-E aspects below and near treeline. Particular emphasis should be on exposed solar slopes, and slopes below or adjacent to rock outcrops. Over the last few days, though temperatures have continued to rise, significant wet loose avalanche activity has not been observed. But as the warming trend continues, and overnight temperatures remain above freezing, the likelihood of activity also rises. These slides present as point release avalanches, often triggered by rockfall, snow melt, or a ski cut. While these avalanches may not be large enough to bury a person, the heavy, wet debris can easily knock someone off their feet and send them into hazardous terrain. Look for roller balls, sticky surface snow, failing test slopes, and increasing boot penetration as signs of a warming snowpack. The best way to combat this issue is to avoid solar slopes before peak daytime temperatures.

Avalanche Discussion

Today, temperatures will be a few degrees warmer than yesterday, with continued high pressure over the forecast area. With that, the potential for wet loose avalanche activity continues on W-SW-S-SE-E aspects below and near treeline. A cooling trend will start tonight, as unsettled weather approaches the region. The chance of cloud cover and precipitation will gradually increase starting tomorrow morning.

Climbers, thoughthe mountain is sunny and clear today, it may not be the case tomorrow. If you're planning to climb in the next 24 hours, start your summit push early to avoid precipitation and white-out conditions tomorrow afternoon.
