In sintesi

A cold and breezy one on the big hill today with overall LOW avalanche danger. Much of our classic, steep avalanche terrain is still out of service due to lack of uniform coverage and wind scouring. It's unlikely you'll be skiing a slope steep enough to slide...but if you do, watch out for small, isolated wind slabs in extreme terrain from recent snow and westerly wind. Early season obstacles will continue to make skiing a little spicy throughout all terrain.

Despite a shallow snowpack, strong wind has made piles of wind drifted snow on S-SE-E-NE-N facing slopes. Observations yesterday found wind slabs scattered throughout above treeline terrain. Wind slabs had formed on top of low density, weak snow. Avoid steep, extreme terrain above treeline where existing snow remained and signs of wind slabs are observed. Look for clues like cornices, textured snow and hollow wind pillows. Wind slabs are not large, but could be big enough to sweep a rider off their feet in steep terrain.
