Quick report
Travelled most aspects between 5,500 and 7,000ft, put eyes on all the terrain in brushy fork and spruce creek drainages. Poor snowpack structures were the only signs of instability we observed. Sheltered areas harbored 1cm surface hoar, and everywhere else had surface and near surface facets. Didn't find sun crusts around, but didn't seek them out. No new snow or wind transport recently. It was a warm day above 5,000 feet. Temps at 6,000-6,500 ft hovered near freezing. Steeper south faces were becoming moist and trees were shedding snow around 3 pm below 6,500 ft. Lower angle slopes and other aspects remained dry when we were out. Dug a pit on W aspect near the head of Brushy Fork, found a shallow snowpack with poor structure. Would like to put eyes on it after the next storm cycle, Other aspects had more snow with a similar upper snowpack structure, didn't take the time to dig down. Soaked up the sun and enjoyed one last beautiful day before things change for a while.
