    A settled period of weather has helped provide the snowpack time to consolidate and strengthen. You will still find areas of wind slab on directly lee aspects, and care will still be required around travel, especially at the higher elevations. As we move through this changing weather affecting the snowpack we will again see variations. Surface conditions are firming up and may get worse with the forecasted weather. Plan trips wisely, sticking to terrain within your capability. Practice your avalanche rescue and mountaineering skills on the lower aspects before venturing into more technical terrain.

Recent Avalanche Activity

No human-triggered or naturally triggered avalanches have been reported or observed over the past 24 hours.

Current Snowpack Conditions

North-east aspects still have some areas of stiff wind slab that increased in size and depth with altitude, mainly above 1800m. Instabilities that may have formed within these areas during the storm are now gaining strength with the current weather pattern on the mountain. Surface conditions are becoming firm underfoot with the temperature changes over the last 24 hours.

Mountain Weather

Cloud increases with showers developing, producing snow to around 1600m on Saturday. This is likely to continue into Sunday with increase temperatures and wind fro the North

Sliding Danger

Changing conditions mean the snow surface is becoming firm, providing a sliding surface if a fall occurs. Caution advised.
