Highlights
The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE today. Strong ridgetop winds continue to form pockets of slab up to two feet in depth in higher elevation avalanche starting zones. These slabs lie upon slick crusts and weak layers of faceted snow. Riders or skiers who venture into avalanche prone terrain could trigger these slabs. With new snow and strong winds in the forecast the hazard could increase as the day progresses.
