Highlights

The Valentine's day surface hoar is still present in isolated sheltered lee features with burial depths ranging from 10cm to 75cm. Any significant new snow and wind will overload this weak layer.

At higher elevations, hard windslabs may be sitting on the Valentine's surface hoar. On southerly aspects, this surface hoar has formed on top of a sun crust. Slabs on these features could most easily be triggered on unsupported terrain features.

Loose surface facets can be found on sheltered slopes at higher elevations. On steeper slopes, these are producing small loose avalanches that may have enough mass to knock over a skier or pry off an ice climber.
