Weather Forecast

For a good weather synopsis, check the Avalanche Canada Mountain Weather Forecast at https://avalanche.ca/weather.Spotwx.com is a great website for digging into details of the forecast at the local scale. Drop a spot on the map and then choose a weather model (CAN or US). Remember, a short range forecast (2 days) will probably be more accurate and reliable than a long range forecast (8-10 days).

Avalanche Summary

Snowpack Summary

We are no longer receiving consistent avalanche and snowpack observations from the region, making it impossible to issue avalanche forecasts with accurate danger ratings. To assist with your backcountry travel planning we've produced blog posts describing four common spring scenarios. It's up to you to decide which of the scenarios applies to your situation. Each scenario has specific weather, snowpack, and avalanche characteristics. And each requires a different approach in terms of risk management. Click the link in the bulletin headline for more information on these different spring scenarios.
