Jasper.
Good quality skiing can be found in sheltered below treeline areas that were not impacted by yesterday's strong winds.
A clearing and cooling trend is expected as a result of a high pressure system. Partly cloudy skies, light winds and no precipitation is forecasted.
Strong to extreme winds have stripped snow from exposed terrain and fetch areas and resulted in wind slabs and wind affected snow in open terrain below treeline, at treeline and in the alpine. The midpack is supportive. Surface hoar is found down 40cm to 80cm in isolated sheltered locations.
Numerous size 1 to size 2 wind slabs observed, mostly from west alpine aspects during previous 24h.
