Ghost.
Recent snow and wind have created reactive wind slabs in the Ghost and there are recent reports of climber triggered avalanches. Ice climbers should be aware of overhead terrain and slopes they are travelling on between pitches and towards the base of the climbs. Climbers should consider the use of avalanche safety gear (transceiver, shovel and probe) and/or avoid climbs with avalanche terrain. This snowpack condition will likely linger for several days. Even a small avalanche can be dangerous if it pushes you off a cliff or into a terrain trap like a gully feature.
Natural and human triggered avalanches have occurred in the Ghost region in the past 24hrs. Some additional information is available on the MIN reports on the Avalanche Canada website.
The recent storm deposited up to 50cm of snow at upper elevations. With the strong winds this new snow has formed into wind slabs, especially in lee and cross-loaded features such as gullies. The wind slabs are typically sitting on a very weak base of facets, and in some areas may overlie a rain crust.
