Banff Yoho Kootenay.
Another cooler day on Sunday, and low danger should persist until some change comes Monday. Still some ok skiing to be had in sheltered spots, but many areas have variable and hard surfaces.
Cold temperatures prevail Sunday with freezing levels remaining below 1500m, a chance of flurries and winds staying light of variable direction. There does seem to be some hope of seeing the sun for a few hours at a time which may start to moisten snow on solar aspects. Monday a ridge develops with freezing levels rising up to 1900m.
5-10 cm of soft surface snow sits on crusts that exist on all aspects and elevations except above 2500m on N aspects. This snow has become wind affected in all but the most sheltered locations. Within the snowpack, a series of crusts also exists except for on high elevation north aspects again. Ski crampons are advisable.
No new avalanches reported today. Numerous cornice releases have been observed over the past few days in places like the Wapta, and they are large as per usual this time of year.
