Highlights
The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE. Dangerous unstable slabs persist. On Saturday, three snowmobilers died in a large avalanche in Cottonwood Creek southeast of Afton. Our condolences are extended to their family and friends. Similar events could occur today. Deep hard and soft slabs lie upon a weak base of faceted snow, and could be triggered by backcountry users venturing into steep, avalanche terrain. Sunshine and warming temperatures will increase the likelihood of triggering slides, along with the possibility of spontaneous, loose-snow sluffs.
