Salt River and Wyoming Ranges
Avalanche danger
Highlights
The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. Mostly stable snow exists, however, in isolated areas the possibility persists for larger loads such as snow machines or groups of riders to trigger full depth hard slabs in very steep avalanche paths. The last activity in the area involving this weak layer occurred one month ago.
Avalanche Discussion
( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Areas of light snow are expected Saturday with little accumulation. Winds should be Southerly at 10-15 mph and mountain temperatures should reach the upper teens. The general avalanche hazard is to be Moderate on Saturday due to the slight chance that may remain for large loads to trigger full depth avalanches at upper elevations. Additionally, skiers or riders could trigger sluffs or isolated pockets of shallow surface slabs in cliff areas and near ridge crests that lie on the mostly stable snowpack.
