Avalanche problems

    • Below treeline
    Likelihood
    Unlikely - Possible
    Size
    1–2
Northerly winds reverse loading cross-loaded gulley features. Previous wind slab from SW winds appear to be well bonded to snow below.
  • Deep Persistent Slabs

    • Alpine
    • Treeline
    • Below treeline
    Likelihood
    Possible
    Size
    1–3
This weak layer exists below a strong mid-pack at treeline and sub-alpine elevations. Large loads such as surface slides or cornice collapse could trigger this deep persistent weakness.

Weather Forecast

Cold with only a light teasing of new snow expected to fall in the southern forecast area.

Snowpack Summary

Consistent winds, just at transport speeds are forming minor new wind slabs by reverse loading S-SE aspects and are most visible in cross-loaded gully features in the southern forecast area. Shallow low density upper snowpack over a strong mid-pack sitting on a weaker facet base. Typical Rockies snowpack we've learned to love! Enjoy!
