Avalanche Summary

Avalanche hazard exists, alpine travel should be taken with caution. In mid-September Visitor Safety responded to a significant avalanche involvement on Mount Athabasca due to early season avalanche condition. Thinly bridged crevasses and new loading over glacier ice and gullies have proven to be accident sites in years past.
