Problems

Wind Slabs

At higher elevations, hard windslabs may be sitting on the Valentine's surface hoar. On southerly aspects, this surface hoar has formed on top of a sun crust. Slabs on these features could most easily be triggered on unsupported terrain features.

Aspects: North, North East, East, South East, South, South West.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Loose surface facets can be found on sheltered slopes at higher elevations. On steeper slopes, these are producing small loose avalanches that may have enough mass to knock over a skier or pry off an ice climber.

Aspects: North, North East, East, South East, South.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.
