Highlights
The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE today. Surface slabs formed by strong winds lie at higher elevations. These slabs lie upon a snowpack with deep instabilities where older snow is underlain by surface hoar and faceted snow. Steep avalanche slopes could be released by snowmobilers today and not necessarily by the first rider on the slope. Saturday a highmarking rider triggered an avalanche on a high east facing slope on or near Mt Dougal. He was able to escape the slab and was not buried.
