Extremely cold temperatures (-25, forecasted high for the Icefields) is the most significant hazard to the hardy back-country traveler today.

30cm of low density snow fell since Saturday in the ice fields area, less in Maligne and around the three valley confluence. This layer is sitting on a variety of surfaces depending on elevation and aspect and seems to be bonding well. Surface hoar may be sporadically preserved in some sheltered locations.
