Weather Forecast

Cold and clear through the weekend with no new precipitation expected.  Milder temps and overcast skies expected next week, with scattered light precipitation. 

Snowpack Summary

Cold temperatures and shallow snowpack is promoting faceting.

Avalanche Summary

Several loose dry avalanches to size 1.5 were observed in the past 24 hours in steep terrain, as well as isolated windslabs to size 2.5 in steep, wind loaded features near ridgetops.

Natural sluffing observed in steep rocky terrain with enough mass to ruin a good day of ice climbing.
The volume of sluffing could knock you over; choose your climb carefully and belay when exposed.

Wind Slabs

Be aware of changes in snow depth as you travel above treeline - this could be an indication of wind loading and the presence of a wind slab.  Several wind slab releases were observed on steep rock slabs above 2400m.
Be careful with wind loaded pockets while approaching and climbing ice routes.Use ridges or ribs to avoid pockets of wind loaded snow.
