Avalanche Problems

Deep Persistent Slabs

Windslabs 60-100cm thick sit over weak basal depth hoar. This was producing easy compression results at treeline today with the whole block collapsing. Natural avalanches to size 2.5 have been reported over the last 24 hours.

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: All elevations.

Likelihood: Very Likely

Expected Size: 2 - 3

Storm Slabs

With the forecast snow and wind Sunday, expect rapid formation of windslabs which should be enough to further increase the danger. These will be very susceptible to human triggering and will step down to the basal depth hoar.

Aspects: North, North East, East, South East, South, South West, West.

Elevations: All elevations.

Likelihood: Very Likely

Expected Size: 2 - 3
