Avalanche Problems

Storm Slabs

Mod SW winds has contributed to slab formation above treeline in the Takakaw Falls region today. No naturals were observed, but would expect the surface slab to be reactive on steeper alpine features and could fail naturally with enough loading.

Aspects: North, North East, East, South East, South.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood: Possible

Expected Size: 1 - 2

Deep Persistent Slabs

There is a weak, faceted base found in most places except the west side of the divide. Due to the strong wind events throughout the winter, there are many thin, spots where it may still be possible to trigger this layer in the alpine and treeline.

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood: Unlikely - Possible

Expected Size: 2 - 3
