Avalanche Problems

Wind Slabs

Moderate to strong SW winds continue to redistribute recent storm snow at treeline and in the alpine. Additional snow on Saturday night will contribute to slab development.

Aspects: North, North East, East, South East, South.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood: Possible - Likely

Expected Size: 1 - 2

Deep Persistent Slabs

This facetted weak layer is most easily detected in shallow snowpack areas at tree line and above. Steep rocky alpine faces still seem to produce avalanches on this layer although these observations are infrequent.

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood: Unlikely - Possible

Expected Size: 2 - 3
