Weather Forecast

The (arguably, only) benefit of the arctic air (high of -20) is nice blue skies. At least we have that...

Snowpack Summary

Storm snow was unequally distributed by strong winds as the arctic flow moved into the region creating wide spacial variability in the snowpack. Surface and mid-pack facetting with the icy temps expected to the Nov 12 crust (20-70cm) and waning overall touring support expected in shallow snowpack areas.

Avalanche Summary

No new avalanche observed or reported today. Probably because no one wants to go outside anymore!!

Wind Slabs

This condition would be found mainly on open lee slopes or cross-loaded gullies. At lower elevations use caution on classic trouble spots like moraine features, and larger open slopes with convexities.
Avoid steep lee and cross-loaded slopesAvoid travelling in areas that have been reverse loaded by winds.
