The general avalanche hazard is CONSIDERABLE. Monday, two shallow surface slabs were unintentionally triggered by skiers on a buried surface hoar layer in the Snake River Range. Similar slides up to two feet deep are possible today. Weak, faceted snow persists at the base of the snowpack and backcountry riders and skiers could still trigger dangerous, full depth hard slab avalanches in steep, avalanche-prone terrain.
