Avalanche Problems

Storm Slabs

25cm of new snow in the past 24hrs is forming a soft slab up to 50cm thick in wind exposed areas. Winds are expected to switch to the North producing a wider spread slab condition.

Aspects: North, North East, East, South East, South, South West, West.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood: Possible

Expected Size: 2 - 3

Loose Wet

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: Alpine.

Likelihood: Likely

Expected Size: 1 - 2

Deep Persistent Slabs

These deeper layers can wake up unexpectedly. The on going storm snow may overload deep layer in some locations.

Aspects: All aspects.

Elevations: Alpine, Treeline.

Likelihood: Possible

Expected Size: 2 - 4
