Storm Slabs

An icon showing Storm Slabs
Heavy snow expected on Monday. Moderate to strong SW winds will be building wind slabs that will be sitting on top of a weak buried surface hoar layer in some locations. Past variable winds make locating this surface hoar layer challenging.

Persistent Slabs

Open slopes on Northeast to South aspects have slabs that are sitting on surface hoar 20-60cm down. On southerly aspects, the surface hoar formed on a sun crust, increasing the possibility of remote triggering and wide propagations.

Aspects: North, North East, East, South East, South.
