Dry loose sluffing is slowly increasing as the surface snow facets so watch for this in steep terrain. Use good group management when traveling in large terrain features and enjoy the good travel and low hazard!

Weather Forecast

We may see some light flurries on Monday but little in the way of accumulations. Winds will be light at all elevations. Alpine temperatures will be in the range of minus 12 to minus 18 degrees with slightly warmer temperatures at treeline with highs of minus 8 to minus 10 degrees.

Snowpack Summary

Significant wind effect exists in all alpine areas with isolated wind slabs in steep lee areas of the high alpine. Soft surface snow remains just below ridge crests at treeline. The upper snowpack is faceting and this has diminished the sensitivity of wind slabs...and rendered the four layers of surface hoar visible in the upper meter dormant.

Avalanche Summary

No new avalanches observed or reported today. Some dry loose surface sluffing noted in very steep (over 45 degree) terrain in Kootenay on Sunday.

Confidence

The weather pattern is stable
