Summary

Weather Forecast

Cooler weather is on the way for the next few days. On Thursday, expect daytime highs in the valleys around 0C, and upper elevation temperatures around -15C. A few cm are expected and winds will be light from the E/NE. We don't expect significant solar input Thursday. An additional 5-10cm is expected Friday later in the day.

Snowpack Summary

Dry snow exists above 2200 m on north aspects, but has been cooked by the sun on solar aspects where multiple crusts exist in the snowpack. There are numerous persistent layers in the mid to lower snowpack that are still there but likely need a large load like a cornice to trigger.

Avalanche Summary

Some loose wet activity was observed as the day warmed up, but overall, much less than during last weeks warmup. During the warmup, persistent layers in the mid and lower snowpack were re-activated in a few instances with cornices and explosives, producing large avalanches, but activity has tapered since.
