Avalanche danger
Avalanche Discussion
( Discussion is generated from the previous day's afternoon forecast. )Expect mostly clear to partly cloudy skies on Sunday. Overnight lows at all elevations should be near 0 degrees Fahrenheit before rising into the teens tomorrow. Light, easterly winds at 5-10 miles per hour are projected to shift to the west during the morning hours. The general avalanche hazard is expected to remain MODERATE on Sunday. Backcountry travelers could trigger soft, surface slabs up to two feet in steep, wind-loaded starting zones. Older, hard slabs two to four feet in depth also persist. More substantial triggers such as large groups, snowmobiles, or surface slides may be needed to initiate these hard slabs. If caught in one of these hard-slab avalanches, serious consequences will result.
