At the higher elevations, backcountry travelers might be able to trigger an isolated pocket of hard wind slab six to 12 inches in depth on very steep, avalanche prone slopes. While small, these slides could quickly accelerate and have the potential to carry skiers or riders over cliff bands or into terrain traps. On sunlit aspects, the potential to trigger these slabs will increase as the day warms.
