The general avalanche hazard is MODERATE. New snow and strong winds will develop easily triggered slides on lee slopes near ridgecrests. At lower elevations the snowpack has warmed due to high temepratures and rain. More rain today will cause dangerous wet, loose slides in ravines, road cuts and other steep areas.

The snow level will be near 7500 feet. Strong southwest winds will gust to sixty miles per hour at ridgetops. AVALANCHE HAZARD FORECAST FOR THE TETON, TOGWOTEE PASS, AND SOUTHWEST TRAILS AREAS:The General Avalanche Hazard is expected to be MODERATE at High elevations due to existing and increasing pockets of soft slabs on northern and lee exposures. The hazard will increase at Low and Mid elevations from LOW to MODERATE or greater due to rainfall warming and lubricating the snow, particularly in ravines and roadcuts.
