Vancouver Island, East Island, North Island, South Island, West Island.
Backcountry travel is challenging right now. The crusty/shallow snowpack is a greater hazard than avalanches at the moment.
The likelihood of natural avalanche activity has greatly decreased with a significant surface crust.
If you're heading out in the backcountry, please consider sharing any observations on the Mountain Information Network
A widespread surface crust has formed on all aspects and elevations. Any previous layers of concern deeper in the snowpack should now be bridged by the crust.
